What this does
This tool converts marks into percentages, letter grades, grade points and class ranks. In single-student mode you enter the marks obtained and the maximum, choose a grading scale, and get the percentage, the grade band it falls in, the grade point and whether it clears the pass mark. In whole-class mode you paste a list of students, one per line as name and marks, and it produces a ranked table with percentages, grades and pass or fail for every student, plus the class average, median, highest, lowest and the number who passed. Ties share a rank, the way a result sheet normally shows them. Three grading scales are built in: the CBSE A1 to E bands, a plain A to F letter scale, and a university O, A+, A style scale. The finished table downloads as a CSV you can open in Excel or Google Sheets.

It is the step that usually happens in a spreadsheet with hand-written formulas, which is where ranking mistakes and off-by-one errors creep in, especially with tied marks. Frequently asked questions
How do I paste a class list?
One student per line, with the name first and the marks last, separated by a comma, a tab or a semicolon. For example: Aarav Sharma, 82. A plain space between the name and the number works too. Blank lines and lines without a number are skipped.
How are tied marks ranked?
Students on the same marks share the same rank, and the next rank skips accordingly. Two students tied at the top are both rank 1 and the next student is rank 3, which is how school and competitive result sheets normally present it.
Which grading scale should I choose?
Use CBSE A1 to E for Indian school boards that follow the nine-point scale, Letter A to F for a simple internal grading, and the University scale for colleges that report O, A+, A and so on. The bands for each are shown in the results as you switch between them.
