Paste or upload your answer key and student responses to grade them instantly.
ABCDAB, numbered pairs like 1:A, 2:C,
or CSV rows like Name, Roll, A, B, C, D (one student per line). Blank or - = unattempted.
What this does
Check Answers grades multiple-choice test responses automatically. Paste or upload your answer key alongside your students' responses, as plain text, numbered pairs, or a CSV file, and the tool instantly works out each student's score, rank, percentage and letter grade. You can set marks per correct answer, apply negative marking for wrong answers, and split the paper into sections such as Physics, Chemistry and Maths to see section-wise performance. Results appear in a sortable table you can export as CSV, and on higher plans you can also generate individual PDF report cards, a full Excel workbook, and per-question item analysis.
Who it’s for
Check Answers is built for teachers, exam evaluators and institute administrators who currently mark MCQ answer sheets by hand or in a spreadsheet formula. It works whether responses were collected on paper and typed in afterwards, exported from another system as a CSV, or entered directly for a small class test. If you need results the same day an exam is conducted, ranks, pass or fail lists, section-wise scores, or report cards to hand back to students, this page removes the hours of manual counting and formula-building that grading normally takes, without needing any scanning hardware.
Frequently asked questions
What formats can I use for the answer key and responses?
You can paste a compact string like ABCDAB, numbered pairs like 1:A, 2:C, or upload a CSV/TXT file with one student per row (Name, Roll, then their answers). A blank entry or a dash is treated as unattempted.
Can it apply negative marking?
Yes. Set the marks awarded per correct answer and the marks deducted per wrong answer before grading, and the summary, section-wise scores and report cards all reflect the negative marking automatically.
Do I need scanned sheets to use this page?
No. Check Answers works from typed or pasted responses, no scanning required. If you have photographs of filled sheets instead, use the Scan & Grade page to read the bubbles automatically.
